Earbud fit guide

A proper earbud seal is crucial for obtaining good signals from MindMics earbuds. A good seal not only enhances sound quality but also improves the accuracy of the signals captured by the earbuds.

Here are some examples of a good and bad seal. You should see prominent peaks in the signal from at least one ear.

Each peak corresponds to a heartbeat.

Good seal

Bad seal

Getting a good seal is dependent on two main factors:

1. Ear tip size. The earbuds come with 5 different sizes of tips. Tip size #3 are installed on the earbud by default. You may need different tip sizes for your left and right ear.

2. Earbud adjustment. Try different earbud adjustments for a snug fit. The 4 adjustments are:

Tap

Helix Pull

Rotate

Steps to get a good seal:

Secure Ear tip

1. Put on the earbuds with the default #3 tips.

2. In the Heart Health app go to view Ear tip adjustment:
Settings -> Earbuds settings -> Ear tip adjustment

3. Focus on getting a good seal in one ear first. You can start with your dominant hand side to aid with adjustment. Follow the hints in the following video to adjust the earbud. Remember to stay still for a few seconds after every adjustment to let the signal stabilize.

4. If you are not able to get a good fit after trying all the adjustment hints, you can try a different ear tip size.

  • Try one size smaller if you feel the earbud is falling out.

  • Try one size bigger if you feel the earbud is going too deep inside your ear

5. Once you get a good seal in one ear, repeat the adjustment steps 3 and 4 for the other ear. You may need different tip sizes for your left and right ear.
